Core - 52 - 55
Water is vital for living whereas the bottles are the symbol of human technological advancement in current times but when they are empty, they turn into a major environmental concern. The sculpture intents to bring interesting dialogues with the viewers about the human history in order to encourage eco-friendly solutions.
At the same time, gathering my experience in the Mexican Communities in Chicago and in Mexico city, intens to adress two different communites miles apart in order to aid in bringing a physical connection between the immigrants and the mother country.
The sculpture Core - 52-55, originates from the artist’s thoughtful observation of different elements that could link communities. The challenge, connecting the Mexican Communities in Chicago with the ones in Mexico city, will be trying to create an opportunity for exchanging of cultures by using one of the basic human needs, which is water. The human need wouldn’t change based on your ethnic background.
